Numb Chuck has a rivalry with Pirate Captain Jack Knife. At one point, Numb Chuck's Maelstrom Staff was stolen from the Hidden Dojo by Captain Jack Knife. Due to his ornithophobia, Numb Chuck can not retrieve the staff himself, as the weapon is guarded by parrots.
The only way to ascend to Numb Chuck's location is by smashing a special anvil with a Maelstrom Hammer and Quick Building an elevating platform. If players attempt to talk to Numb Chuck before proving themselves to the three Ninjas of the Hidden Dojo, Numb Chuck will refuse to give them a mission until they have completed the other Ninjas' trials. Once the trials of Smashmaster Foom, Gathermaster Klex, and Brickmaster Clang are completed, Master Fong Shader sends players to be trained by Numb Chuck, the most learned Ninja.
Numb Chuck gives players a Ninja Hood to travel beyond the Fallen Gate and complete his own test: to defeat a Maelstrom Dragon. When players return successfully, Numb Chuck rewards them with a Dragon Tooth as a symbol of strength and bravery. Then, Numb Chuck sends players to the Pirate Camp to retrieve the stolen Maelstrom Staff, letting players keep the weapon if they are successful. Later, Numb Chuck writes to players' Mailbox, explaining that he has ornithophobia. Finally, Numb Chuck presents players with the challenge of defeating Burnshout, Blastbreath, and Torchblight.

My LEGO Network
Numb Chuck made his first public appearance as a Rank 1 Networker in My LEGO Network to promote the upcoming LEGO Universe. As the game was still in its pre-alpha phase, Numb Chuck's appearance and role are based more upon his pre-alpha self than how he appears in the final game. He is depicted as a ninja clan leader who falls asleep at the slightest sign of boredom and loves singing karaoke, especially the pop song "Our Bricks are Sealed".
Numb Chuck is friends with Friendly Felix and Professor Brickkeeper, and he refuses to accept any friend request from any LEGO.com member who does not have a Creation Lab badge. On his page, friends can trade three Plastic Pellets for a LEGO Universe Numb Chuck sticker, ten Plastic Pellets for Koi Sushi, twenty Plastic Pellets for a Kata Sparbot Blueprint, and four Kata Sparbots for an Endless Ohm.
LEGO Rock Band
Numb Chuck also appears in LEGO Rock Band, as a playable character unlocked by completing a gig the Volcanic Rock venue. As LEGO Rock Band was released in November 2009, nearly a year before the release of LEGO Universe, his appearance had not yet been redesigned, and he wears a simple black ninja outfit.
Numb Chuck is also mentioned in one of the randomly selected LEGO Legends displayed on the game's loading screens, where he is stated to be the most silent ninja in history, even creeping up on himself completely undetected. While his name is spelled as "Numb Chuck" on the rewards screen and in the Rock Shop, the loading screen instead spells his name as "Numbchuck".
In the pre-alpha phase of LEGO Universe, Numb Chuck was intended to appear in the original Wonderland Forbidden Valley as leader of his clan of ninjas. He likely would have had a similar personality as his My LEGO Network depiction. Unlike his My LEGO Network appearance, Numb Chuck would have worn a black hood and Gi. In the Wonderland Forbidden Valley, Numb Chuck was located in the Dojo in the Great Tree. The Ninja Sentry would have sent players to speak with him. To protect players from the Maelstrom, Numb Chuck would have sent players to collect three Imaginite Shards from rocks outside the Great Tree, which Numb Chuck would have used to create a Maelstrom Helmet. Whatever role he had in the pre-alpha phase of LEGO Universe was either scrapped or recycled into the current game.
In beta testing, Numb Chuck gave an early version of Daily Missions in which he would offer players the opportunity to repeat the Slayer of Dragons mission.
Prior to the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu update, Numb Chuck used Silas Penumbra's idle animations and appeared tired but easily angered.
- Numb Chuck's name is a play on "nunchuk", a weapon used in Martial Arts.
- Numb Chuck appears on the World Maps of Forbidden Valley, Raven Bluff, and Forbidden Valley Dragon Battle. He also formerly appeared on the World Map for Club Station Alpha while CGI artwork of Max was unavailable.
- Numb Chuck frequently shouts "Kii-yaa!" in his dialogue.
- On January 28 and January 29, 2012, Numb Chuck was spawned by a Mythran in Nimbus Plaza. He behaved just like his Forbidden Valley counterpart and would offer his missions to those who had not previously completed them. On January 30, 2012, both Numb Chuck's modern and pre-alpha incarnations were spawned in Red Blocks.
