I removed the picture, I will need a registered contributor to find another appropriate one, 124.176.3.147 20:24, February 15, 2010 (UTC)

As a closed beta tester, I know that is what the stromling looks like. I also think that a stromling should be on a different page then the on on the different type of stromling.

Needs major work[]

This article is a total mess. Doesn't mention the early Darklings (Grumpy Darklings, Hyper Darklings/Dark Ones, and Freak Darklings, which were in the game files and trailers), the grammar is incorrect at times (Dark Ronins should be Dark Ronin), and it's got a lot of work that needs to be done on it. And when I tried to add info on the original Darklings it was removed! Why was that?

Stromling Types[]

In the game files, Stromlings have a very interesting set-up. Most Stromlings, such as Pirate Stromlings, Admirals, Ronin, etc, are one model. Everything for the enemy is in one file. For instance, the file for a Pirate Stromling has the hat and sword in the same model, attached to the Stromling. An Admiral has the hat, cannon, hook, etc all in the same model with the body. However, Avant Gardens Stromlings, Survival Stromlings, and Hammerlings are a bit different, as their elements are modular. There is a model that has their body (Head, torso, legs), another model for the hair/helmet, and another for the weapon. Backpacks are also separate models.

There are four body types:

  1. Standard Stromling body (Brown shirt, red belt)
  2. Survival Stromling 1 body (Light grey shirt, dark grey belt)
  3. Survival Stromling 2 body (Brown shirt, tan belt)
  4. Survival Stromling 3 body (Dark grey shirt, gold/dark yellow belt)

Three hair/helmet types:

  1. Hair
  2. Jaw Helm
  3. Spike Helm

Four weapon types:

  1. Blade
  2. Chainsaw
  3. Hammer
  4. Mace

Here is a list of known combinations seen in-game (that I know of, anyways):

Common kind seen in Avant Gardens

  • Standard Stromling body
  • Hair
  • Blade

"Sawlings" (Not official name, but that's what they're called here, so...)

  • Survival Stromling 2 body
  • Hair
  • Chainsaw

Lockjaw Stromlings seen in Survival (Known on this wiki as Mega stromlings:

  • I don't know the body type for these, I have not seen them, I am guessing Survival Stromling 1
  • Jaw Helm
  • Hammer

Hammerlings:

  • Survival Stromling 3 body
  • Spike Helm
  • Hammer

I have not seen any Stromlings in-game that use the Mace weapon. I think we should have a single page for these modular Stromlings, and separate pages for non-modular ones. Thoughts?
